At Nature's Mercy: Post Jam Update
Hey everyone!
Thanks for all the feedback many of you have given me, and congratulations to everyone who participated in the GMTK Game Jam 2022! From what I played, everyone did a fantastic job!
Over the course of the rating period, I've been working on fixing a couple bugs and making a few valuable changes. Hopefully after this release, At Nature's Mercy should be a bit more polished. Here are the additions:
Update 0.1.0 Changes:
- Added visual filter to Famine disaster.
- Added a game over state when all structures are destroyed, resources are ran out, or Wasteland tiles completely cover the board.
- Added a new checkerboard background to represent play space.
- Added a play time stopwatch that stops once a game over occurs.
- The disaster timer length is now decreased after a disaster occurs.
- The disaster timer and play time stopwatch no longer begin until first house is placed.
- Structure cursor and placement features are now only disabled when resources are ran out for the selected structure.
- Limited the range a workstation structure can spawn around a house unless all nearby spaces are taken up.
- Redetermined structure names to more accurately represent purpose.
- Replaced the iron requirement in the Lumbermill recipe with stone.
- A ton of balance changes.
- Refactored a ton of code behind the scenes.
Update 0.1.0 Bug Fixes:
- Fixed issue with Fruit not being decreased during Famines.
- Fixed sudden rain animation cutoff during disasters.
- Fixed all blurry text.
- Fixed the lightning rods, drains, and stockpiles all being destroyed during disasters.
- Fixed disasters not referencing own destruction values. Now they should be much stronger >:)
- Fixed all item icons being animated at once.
- Fixed crash when only one space remains and a structure is placed there.
- Fixed house destruction not using appropriate particle effects.
- Fixed issue with villagers being unsure what to do next.
Going forward, I'd like to continue working on the game; although, I have many plans for other projects that I'd like to pursue, so no promises.
